Not Your Usual Artist's Statement

What happens when we look below the surface of the illusions of mundanity? My art sensuously explores below the skin to the viscera, the bones, the brain. It strips the veneer of normality people display in public, and shows them as their truly surreal, dreamlike selves. Many images go below the surface of the concept of individual self, revealing the spirit. Pictures show the frighteningly beautiful response to the enormity of seeing our true nature, immense as it is, and the true nature of our bonds with others. When we are reminded to be in touch with the reality of who we are, the power of it, the union with the rest of the world, we can be stronger against the deceptions of the mass media.

Artist Statement by Tantra Bensko Redux

 Winding, and unwinding we go, through our selves, going one way we are ourselves, the other way, what are we? The art of ourselves? images, dreams, stories, fantasies, memories? Can we rub against our art selves as we wind around, like serpents, and let some of the pigment brush off on us? And look, where the pigment rubbed off, the skin becomes transparent, and we see through it, to another world. Much more vast. And it's looking at you.
